We left La Rochelle at 0600 on Tuesday 14/7 and arrived 14.00 yesterday , the 15/7 after travelling all night. We are in the Maritimo marina which is the most expensive so far…..44 euros per night ( we are 10.57 metres – 10 metres is 33 euros!! ). The berths are ok BUT 5 euros per night for water and electric. There is a deposit of 5 euros on the key is card and no launderette. To be fair , if we paid 33 I would complain less, but the extra for water etc. is a bit much. What is nice is the pool and restaurant but of course normal payment is taken. restaurant staff were great.
Corry enjoyed oxtail and me…sausage, egg, chips and black pudding.
The trip was engine on due to lack of speed with sails. The chandlers here is basic!
The newer marina opposite offers all yacht services plus bars chandlers , etc and will be our choice next time but only for an overnight stop, as the other marina is near the city of Bilbao and attractions. However there is a linking metro system. There are no maps of the immediate area but there is one for the city.
Tmrw is Santander. We explored yesterday and went on the only surviving carrier bridge across the river and took a ferry back. We did not do much on the other side as we came back and lazed at the pool , after an early lunch. They gave us a fantastic firework display over the harbour as well.
