Well we left boulogne for Dieppe. It was a sunny sail with some cloud and we actually sailed for about 5 hours. We left about 7.00 and arrived about 6.00. We had lunch out on one day and noticed that the mussels were larger than boulogne. The marina is ok but the services are too far away to use so the boat, it was. The staff were there but trying channel 9 only got a response if they felt like it. The town was full of bars and cafes. It was nice.
Le Havre is where we only spent one night and the marina is horrible …….lousy spot for shops etc. the staff were content to leave us without wifi and again the visitors was a fair stroll. Not to be recommended.
I do recommend St Vaast. Fantastic place but full of Brits! Not so many French or dutch people. It is picturesque with nice food shops and a specialist wine shop. I mean SPECIALISTS! I have friends that could spend hours there. There is a reasonable chandlers there. Corry took me to a bar where you have a betting office. We spent a couple of hours playing lottery games. No luck but enjoyed some beer. Corry does not drink much and a wine is very rare. Tatihou is an island just outside St Vaast and there are amphibious boats to take you out on trips. The thing we both noticed were the flowers on the north side of the marina and their fragrance. This is still May.
From Le Havre it was a day sail again under engine with sunshine. I seem to fill up regularly!
We hope to leave for Cherbourg tomorrow.
